Full Bloom- Flower paintings at the Artizan Gallery, Torquay

Collaborating with Lili John at the Artizan gallery Torquay

Flower paintings & more.

Full Bloom is a week long exhibition of work from myself and Helen Lili John, focussing on representing the feminine. My interpretation of Full Bloom was through my Flower Paintings. Hanging our exhibition at the Artizan gallery in Torquay created a colourful space which resonated with feminine strength.

It was wonderful to hang my Flower paintings in such a light airy space.

Lili’s beautiful work

Lili hung a beautiful selection of her recycled art and images from her fascinating ‘Invisible’ project. This work is a poignant yet cheeky look at how women can be invisible in society due to age, ethnicity, appearance. It included images of the local Totnes WI ladies, joyfully posing in the nude, proud & happy with their bodies.

Her work is very tactile, with textures and fabrics incorporated into the paintings. I felt they contrasted with the flower paintings beautifully and created a beautiful show.

My first experience of a Devon gallery

This was the first time I had hung my Flower Paintings in an independent gallery in Devon. The pevious show last year had been created as part of a project with Park school , called Generations’.

Full Bloom was a short one week show and I think on hindsight I’ll do longer exhibitions in future.
